So has COTD come to an official and unceremonious end? Last one I see is from May 29th.

May 30th, I think. Matt said last week somewhere in Oppo that it would be back. It was a tradition for many, many years. Too bad if it doesn't come back.

I would like to see it come back, though it was much more difficult when Kinja forced the change to "Conversation of the Day" instead of "Comment of the Day." And when they dropped tags from the FP, it became almost impossible to find the COTD.

Poor choice of words on my part. When Kinja's new commenting system went live, the emphasis switched from comments to conversations. So they changed from Comment of the Day to Conversation of the Day to support the new way of thinking. I think it's much more difficult to find an interesting conversation than it was to find one particularly pithy or salient comment. So the philosophy of Kinja forced the change, not the system itself.
